[R] Kindred Spirits, by: Rainbow Rowell

Kindred Spirits
by: Rainbow Rowell

★★★★★

'Everybody likes everything these days. The whole world is a nerd.'
'Are you mad because other people like Star Wars? Are you mad because people like me like Star Wars?'
'Maybe.'

If you broke Elena's heart, Star Wars would spill out. So when she decides to queue outside her local cinema to see the new movie, she's expecting a celebration with crowds of people who love Han, Luke and Leia just as much as she does. What she's not expecting is to be last in a line of only three people; to have to pee into a collectible Star Wars soda cup behind a dumpster or to meet that unlikely someone who just might truly understand the way she feels.

Kindred Spirits is an engaging short story by Rainbow Rowell, author of the bestselling Eleanor & Park, Fangirl and Carry On, and is part of a handful of selected short reads specially produced for World Book Day.

BLOG TOUR! Review & Giveaway: When I Make You Mine, by: Rae Daniel

When I Make You Mine
(The Richmond Series #1)
by: Rae Daniel

Reeling from a recent break-up, Anne is surprised when she meets Jim, her handsome ER doctor. She’s been burned one too many times before, with the most recent relationship fail happening not even an hour before they meet! Catching her on-again-off-again now definitely-off-again boyfriend with her roommate, in her own living room, was definitely not how she planned on spending her Saturday. She definitely didn’t plan on spending it in the ER either!

It’s not been Anne’s best day, to say the least!

Jim’s been looking for ‘The One’ for what seems like forever. His work hours limit his dating life and any women who come into the ER are either drunk out of their minds or are on enough drugs to make rock stars jealous. Getting involved with a patient is the last thing that he wants or needs.

Until Anne.

Will Jim and Anne get their happy ever after or does Ben, her best guy friend, have intentions of his own?

Sometimes, you have to close your eyes and listen to your heart in order to see the future.

my thoughts of the book:

You know, I don't actually know what took my attention of this book. But I was so happy when I received, then read it and knew why I chose to read it. Is one of those books that you know is one of your crew. Do you get me? Like one of those books that you say you can hang out with. So, yeah, I did hang out with this book. It saw all my classrooms!
Doctors have horrible hours, so Jim (from the story) is not an exception. Most people he meets is a patient and is prohibited to go out with them, right? But when Anne comes to the ER, everything goes out the window. Anne throws out his, now, ex-boyfriend and goes directly to the ER because of a terrible cough... everything in one day. Terrible, terrible. Then she sees her doctor and maybe the day got better, but she was so into the meds that she forgot her pants had holes. Oops! These two are such a pair.
I am not going to lie, the book is short. Shorter that I would like, because I really did like the story. I wanted a little more and for it to not be so fast. I love Jim's attitude, but also Anne's. I liked most of the scenes of the whole book, but that epilogue... OH! I LOVE IT. I have a serious fixation with epilogues and I always want more, but I really really liked this one. It made me laugh and say "awww" various times. And after a certain scene I'm sure I will continue the series to read more about other characters.

If you are into something short, funny and full of romance, this is the perfect pick for you. FOR REAL!

#COYER Challenge February Progress!

I challenged myself to read at least 25 books between December to March and I think I might make it, which makes me happy. I don't know if that will change now that classes are going in full speed. But I will try to read as much as I can without leaving out my school work. Below, you will find a list of books I have read these past weeks and the reviews I made for them. All these books were read on my iPad via iBooks or the Kindle app. Now, the list:
January Books:

Febraury is being tough with me. Classes are being so annoyingly hard this semester. French never gave me much work and now I'm getting shit. Physics is being a pain in my ass and let's not talk about American Lit or Discourse and Grammar. Thank God, Advance Composition and Callgraphy are going easy with me. The number of books I have read is not bad, but I still don't like it.

[Series Review] Unfinished Hero, by: Kristen Ashley

Shame on me! I never know why I wait so much to write the reviews, mostly becaue I am no in the mood, but damn. Here I am, writing a review of a SERIES, again, because I was so lazy that I didn't write separate reviews and making a series one is easier. Whatever, right?
by: Kristen Ashley

Knight
Anya Gage has learned that to get anything good in life, you have to work for it. She has no expectations, no dreams.
Then she finds herself at a party where she doesn’t want to be and she meets Knight.
Knight Sebring knows who he is, what he wants and what he likes. And he gets it. But he never expected something as sweet as Anya Gage to wander into his bedroom during a party he did not expect to be having to borrow his phone.
Knight tries to leave Anya to the life she deserves of white picket fences and a man who watches football on Sundays – good, normal and clean. But when Anya comes to his nightclub and finds herself in a situation, he knows someone has to look after her, he can’t fight it anymore and he decides that man will be him.
Knight teaches Anya that, just as with the bad, in life you should also expect the good. And he teaches her this by giving it to her.
But Knight has a dark past and just as he desires Anya for exactly who she is, he fears when she finds out exactly the man he has become and always intends to be, she’ll leave him for good, normal and clean.

Creed
Way too young, eleven year old Tucker Creed and his six year old neighbor, Sylvie Bissenette, find they have something awful in common. Creed then decides he’s going to do everything in his limited power to shield his Sylvie from her ordeal. So he does and Creed and Sylvie form a bond that grows and blossoms with their ages.
They plot to leave their lives behind, the town they live in that will hold them down and the histories they share that, unless they break free, will bury them. Sylvie goes to their special place, Creed never shows and she doesn’t see him again until it’s too late.
With Creed gone, Sylvie is forced to endure a nightmare and do the unspeakable to end it. To deal, she develops a hard shell with sharp edges that very few can break through. So when Creed again finds his Sylvie, he discovers the girl he loved is locked away and he has to find his way back into her heart without getting shredded in the process.
Raid

Hanna Boudreaux has lived in the small town of Willow all her life. She’s sweet, cute and quiet.

Hanna has a moment of epiphany when she realizes her crush for forever, Raiden Ulysses Miller, is not ever going to be hers. She sees her life as narrow and decides to do something about it.

Raiden Miller is the town’s local hero. A former Marine with the medal to prove his hero status, he comes home, shrouded in mystery. It takes a while, but eventually Hanna catches his eye.

After all these years of Raid and Hanna living in the same town, the question is why? Is Raid interested in Hanna because she’s sweet and cute? Or does Raid have something else going on?
Deacon
Deacon has an ugly history, a history that broke him, leaving him a ghost of a man. Out of necessity, he left the normal world to descend into the criminal world and found he fit. So he stayed. Cold as ice and living off the grid, Deacon has no intention to connect, not with anyone.
Then he returns to some remote cabins in the Colorado Mountains and finds they have new owners. One of them is Cassidy Swallow, a young woman willing to work hard to live her quiet dream in a house by a river surrounded by aspen and pine.
Suddenly, Deacon finds he’s at war. Cassidy’s pull for him to connect is strong. He fights it, but he loses, always coming back for more. But when he does, he gives her nothing.
From the first time she sees him, Cassidy knows Deacon is dead inside. She knows he’s the kind of man who could destroy a woman. But one night when Deacon’s control slips, Cassidy takes a chance.
He might break her. He also might be her dream come true.
Sebring
Nick Sebring has issues. Born feeling like an outsider in his own family, growing up under the shadow of a brother who could do anything, Nick isn’t that great of a guy. But when this culminates with Nick lashing out to hurt his brother through the woman he loves, Nick turns inward and makes some decisions about the man he intends to be.
And as he does this, he falls in love and truly learns the man that he’s grown to be.
When his love is murdered right before Nick’s eyes, Nick knows he has to avenge her. He knows how he’s going to avenge her. And he has no qualms using Olivia Shade to exact that vengeance.
Olivia Shade has grown up on the outside of her family too. Her problem is that they don’t want her outside. They want her all the way in, right under their thumbs. She pays the price for seeking escape and learns her lesson—she’ll never see a dawn where she wakes up free.
Then she meets Nick Sebring, and even as she fights it, the hope that died years ago starts to blossom. She can find love. She can have a man of her own. She can be happy. She can be free.
Olivia hopes while Nick schemes.
However, as Nick peels back the layers of all that is Olivia Shade, he finds something surprising. He understands its fragility. He falls in love with its beauty. He seeks to protect it.

But he forgets to protect his Livvie from one thing: Nick Sebring.

(The Dark Artifices #1)
by: Cassandra Clare

Los Angeles. It’s been five years since the events of the Mortal Instruments when Nephilim stood poised on the brink of oblivion and Shadowhunter Emma Carstairs lost her parents. After the blood and violence she witnessed as a child, Emma has dedicated her life to to discovering exactly what it was that killed her parents and getting her revenge.

Raised in the Los Angeles Institute with the Blackthorn family, Emma is paired as a parabatai with her best friend, Julian Blackthorn. A series of murders in the city catch her attention — they seem to have the same characteristics as the deaths of her parents. Could the murderer be the same person? And her attention isn’t the only one caught: someone has been murdering Downworlders as well. The Fair Folk make a deal with the Institute: if the Blackthorns and Emma will investigate the killings, they’ll return Mark Blackthorn to his home. The catch: they have only two weeks to find the killers. Otherwise it’s open war between faeries and Nephilim.

The Shadowhunters of the Institute must race against time to catch the killers, even as they begin to suspect the involvement of those closest to them. At the same time, Emma is falling in love with the one person in the world she’s absolutely forbidden by Shadowhunter Law to love. Set against the glittering backdrop of present-day Los Angeles, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches from the warlock-run nightclubs of the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica.

REVIEWING A BINGE READING: Alexa Riley!

Do you ever wonder if you should review short stories or novellas? I am always wondering that. If the story was really good and I can write a lot of it, then why not? But sometimes you like the story and that was it, nothing that important. So, recently I been reading some novellas from one author and I just cannot stop reading her words AND I'm making this post to dedicate it to those stories.

Alexa Riley
★★★☆☆
Coach (Breeding #1)

Retiring from the NFL was the right decision, and at thirty years old, I've done things most people could only dream of. After all I've accomplished, coaching high school football should be easy...but when you've got a distraction in the form of a nerdy girl with curves, things can get complicated.

She's a student, she's barely legal, and she's my best friend’s daughter.

I didn't know what desire was until Megan. I had no idea obsession could drive someone insane, until I saw her. I wasn't prepared for the fact that once I laid eyes on Megan my life would really begin.

I have to have her, no matter what the cost. I have to breed her and bind her to me so tightly she can't ever get away. She'll be mine, even if I have to take her.

★★★★★
PS... You're Mine

Katie Lovely signs up her class for a project, writing letters to Marines serving overseas, but a calculation error means she has to participate along with the class.

She isn’t prepared for what happens after she gets the first letter.

Sergeant Major Mark Gunner is serving his last tour and looking forward to getting out of the Marines. When he gets a letter that captures his heart, everything suddenly changes.

Their worlds connect and letters flow, creating a love unlike any other.

But when their time is up and the letters stop, will his claim remain?

★★★★★
Snow And Mistletoe

Noelle's voice has captivated Alex, and she's become his greatest obsession. Since he hired her to read audiobooks, listening to her is the only thing that makes his lonely world bearable. Thank God she's never seen him. His scars would only scare her away.

Alex has starred in every fantasy Noelle's had since she first heard his voice over the phone, and reading erotica samples to him only fuels her desire. Listening to him on the other end of the phone is the best part of her day, and she's willing to do anything to please him.

On Christmas Eve a storm comes through, sending Noelle in search of her reclusive boss. Once she's at his cabin with no place to go, there's only one way to keep warm.

★★★★☆
Owning the Beast

When Annabella Blanca finds herself on the doorstep of her new home, she is terrified, yet hopeful of what her new life will be.

Griffin Stone has locked himself away from the world. One minor mix-up, and all his carefully built walls come crashing down.

When love finds its way in to even the darkest of hearts, will it be enough to stand the greatest tests? Can beauty own the beast?

★★★★☆
My New Step-Dad

I shouldn't want him, but I do.

I've got one week to get through until my mother’s estate clears, and then I'll be free to go.

All I've got to do is keep my hands off my new step-dad, Bruce. But that's easier said than done.

I shouldn't want her, but I do.

I can't remember the last time I touched a woman. Heck, I can't remember the last time I touched myself. But ever since little Sophie showed up, I can't think of anything but claiming her.

Forbidden love and secret obsessions will have you begging for the climax.
★★★★☆
The Virgin Duet

A gorgeous, obsessive, billionaire alpha.

A curvy, sassy bombshell from the wrong side of the tracks.

Both virgins...

When Becs and Bray make an arrangement, they have no idea what it will lead to - sexual desires and lust that cannot be contained.

Will Bray let chaos rule his perfect world?

Will Becs let love into her cold heart?

Will Kindles ignite from the sexual heat? There's only one way to find out...

Book to Movie [3]

The 5th Wave
(book - movie)

Book Author: Rick Yancey
Book Published: May 7th, 2013

Movie Director: J. Blakeson
Movie Released: January 22th, 2016

I have ALWAYS said that books are really hard to translate to a screen and adding every single detail, but there are a few exceptions. The 5th Wave is clearly one of them.

The book came out three years ago and I read it just a year ago. I loved every single thing about it. The whole thing about aliens, surviving scenes and a kick-ass female character. Cassie is simply the best! And Chloe Grace Moretz clearly made her justice. The whole film was perfect. As I said, translating a book to a screen is no easy job, but this production made a badass job. They translated as much as they could and the product was simply perfect.

Characters such as Ben Parish and Evan Walker were the best too! I mean such hoties they are. But I was kind of disturbed that a triangle story may came out of these three (hoping not). I haven't read the second book yet, but I'm really really hoping there is NO love triangle. Cassie + Evan ALL THE WAY. Plus, Ben can have Ringer all to himself, right?

Another cheers to the scenes of the waves! HOLY SHIT. The scenes were just how I imagined them. They showed the whole world to let you know that the waves did not only happened in US, but in the WHOLE world. People should understand that, ok? The flashback scenes of when everything was normal... GOOD. They were a good cameo and I approve.

So... the next step is to keep reading the series, because the third and last book is coming soon and it may be the shit. I already have my copy of The Infinite Sea, so I need the movie soon after, right? Go ahead, people! Give me the movie.

EXCERPT:

Connor Dunkle stood on her doorstep. With a rush of relief, she flung open the door and held back a gasp. My God, he looked good. Struck mute for a moment, she gave in to impulse and hungrily took him in. Dressed in a button down navy blue shirt that clung to his broad chest, a casual jacket, and dark-washed jeans, he simmered with delicious masculine testosterone. Usually a hint of stubble clung to his square jaw, but tonight he was clean-shaven and smelled of spicy cloves. His thick dirty blond hair fell in waves over his forehead, brushing his ears, and those sea blue eyes framed with thick lashes struck her mute for a few seconds. He towered over her in a mass of rock-hard muscle, giving her the impression of both strength and protectiveness. He was a walking, talking specimen of everything a woman dreams of in a man. Both Hemsworth brothers mixed with Daniel Craig and a sprinkle of old-fashioned Redford. Her poor body roared into overdrive and she felt a damp rush of moisture between her thighs. God, she was acting like a sex-starved teen. So. Embarrassing. Finally, he spoke. Even his damn voice was gravel and satin mixed together in a symphony to the ears. I saw your lights went out. Looks like some of the other houses on the block are affected. You okay? He was checking on her? To be nice or to get her to agree to extra credit? Yes, we re fine. Thank you. Did you flip the breaker? Sometimes these apartments get overloaded and you need to reset it. That s what I had to do with mine. I haven t gone down to the basement yet. I ll help you out. Oh, you don t have to. His gaze sharpened on her face, and his jaw clenched. Fascinated, she studied his features, noticing the air of irritation that briefly shone. I want to, Ella. I won t stay. I just don t like the idea of you and Luke alone in the dark. She flushed and stumbled back. I didn t mean to be rude. I m just used to doing things for myself. I m sorry, come in. He walked inside and she realized it was a mistake.
