[R] Roomies, by: Sara Zarr & Tara Altebrando

Roomies
by: Sara Zarr & Tara Altebrando

★★★★½

It's time to meet your new roomie.

When East Coast native Elizabeth receives her freshman-year roommate assignment, she shoots off an e-mail to coordinate the basics: television, microwave, mini-fridge. That first note to San Franciscan Lauren sparks a series of e-mails that alters the landscape of each girl's summer -- and raises questions about how two girls who are so different will ever share a dorm room.

As the countdown to college begins, life at home becomes increasingly complex. With family relationships and childhood friendships strained by change, it suddenly seems that the only people Elizabeth and Lauren can rely on are the complicated new boys in their lives . . . and each other. Even though they've never met.

That went well. I never thought that this book would get me so much. It maybe think that I didn’t enjoy too much my summer before freshman year. It made me want to go back and maybe have a roommate. I wonder who she be. Thinking about it made really want to have one now. The story is pretty much very sweet, interesting, but slow. If you are searching for something to slow down a little, this book would be perfect for you.

Maybe one of the biggest steps in life is moving from being a child to be an adult. Which actually happens get you go to college. That is what its happening to Elizabeth and Lauren. From the first day Elizabeth (EB) receive the notification of who was her roomie, she got in contact with her via email. For Lauren (Lo), who at the beginning really didn’t want a roommate, just went along with the messages. After a while they became friends, because of everything they talked. Then there life become more conflicted, living is tough of these girls.

Their lives are totally the opposite. EB is a New Jersey girl, who lives alone with her mom after her dad left them because he was gay and go away to start a gallery at San Francisco. She is totally social, love to surf, have internet access anywhere, but her life still hell. Two jobs, but only one of them actually pay her. Lo is a San Francisco girl, who have five siblings and two parents that love her with all their heart. Two jobs, because she want to earn money for a computer and other things. These girls’ lives get tangled so much that at the end we could make their story without reading it.

Talking about the end… I like it and to day that is huge. It have a happy ending. I would love to read at least one more chapter about both girls together, but I can accept it like this. I love how much this book tell us to move on, not for bad, but for good. Let things clear behind and move to a better future.

I recommend this book to whoever loved their freshman year and whoever have not taken that step, but will.

[Short Review] I Am Pusheen the Cat, by: Claire Belton

I Am Pusheen the Cat
by: Claire Belton

★★★★☆

This collection of oh-so-cute kitty comics—an online cult phenomenon, now for the first time in an adorable gift book—Pusheen combines the online reach of The Oatmeal’s How to Tell if Your Cat Is Plotting to Kill You with the super-sweet appeal of Hello Kitty. With more than 2 million page views a month, 500,000+ blog subscribers, and 500,000+ Facebook followers, Pusheen is a pleasantly tubby gray tabby cat who has warmed hearts and tickled funny bones of millions worldwide with her signature GIF animated bops, bounces, and tail wiggles. Now, Pusheen is ready to make the leap from digital to print with her first comic collection!

I Am Pusheen the Cat features some of the most popular comics from the website, including Reasons I Love Fall, Career Options for Your Cat, and Christmas To Do List, as well as a healthy serving (at least 25 percent) of never-before-seen material that is sure to delight Pusheen’s many dedicated fans.

You see, I didn’t want to request this book in Netgalley. Because of many reasons, like I got too many books to read and so much work to do. But while I was in a place without nothing much to do, Pusheen became my entertainment and certainly made me a crazy people in other people's eyes that were around me. I laughed at so many parts!
Pusheen is so much than a cat. It’s a phenomenon! Everyone had seen Pusheen somewhere, maybe they don’t know who she is or her name, but they have seen her period.

I don’t regret reading this book and neither will you. Its short, cute and hilarious, make me think that being a cat is so much fun. I want to be a cat! Totally worth it. Want to laugh? Read it.

[Short Review] Full Exposure, by: Tracy Wolff

Full Exposure
by: Tracy Wolff

★★★½☆

Closing herself off from a traumatic past, photographer Serena Macafee likes sex with no strings attached? no commitment, just pure pleasure. Her new subject, sculptor Kevin Riley, is the perfect man to fulfill her hottest fantasies. Where better than the torrid wetlands of Baton Rouge where Riley works?and plays? But as their sessions heat up, so do Serena?s intimate feelings for Kevin. And as her guard breaks down, her fears are aroused.

She?s opening herself up to emotions she never wanted, and making herself vulnerable to a past she thought she'd escaped. One that has followed her to the sweltering Southern bayou, exposing her to the twisted fantasies of someone in the shadows, and to dangers beyond her control.

Ugh, I was liking it at the end and BAM! It end. I dragged so much this book, because at the beginning I didn’t like it. Everything was too fast and I didn’t understand anything. But then, things begin to slow down and I fell in love with it.

I don’t know what to think about the book in general. It’s not one of my favorites, but neither is one of my “I-don’t-like-you”. The scenes of the stalker was very cliché, except of the part of who was the stalker, because I didn’t think about him until Kevin said it. I hate the way Serena thinks and talks about herself, I couldn’t stand it. But I love how Kevin make her feel and how his thoughts always drift towards her and how much he love her. And of course, his french was "magnifique" The book is not bad, but it’s not perfect either.

I don’t know if I would recommend this book to someone. Maybe, but not in a near future.

[Short Review] Elfin, by: Quinn Loftis

Elfin
(Elfin #1)
by: Quinn Loftis

★★★★★

Before tonight Cassie Tate’s biggest concerns were whether she could pass Algebra and how she was going to keep Elora, her best friend, from dressing her in a skimpy fairy costume for Halloween. Her feet were firmly planted in suburban reality and she had no reason to believe her life would be anything but that of a typical teenager. That is until tonight, when Cassie saw something that no human was ever supposed to see; in the blink of an eye she was thrown into the world of the Light and Dark Elves.

He comes from a realm where light and dark have fought for millennia. He is of a race known to humans only in myths and legends. The darkness that lives inside him is a part of both who and what he is and it makes him the most gifted spy and assassin in the history of his time. His life is not his own; he lives in the service of the Dark Elf King. He slays who he must, has mercy on no one, is relentless in his hunt, and never tires of seeing his prey fall. He is Triktapic, assassin, spy, most feared of the Dark Elves.

Now, in the midst of his King’s complicated plans to expand the Dark Elves’ holdings into the mortal realm, for the first time, Trik finds his loyalties divided. For no Elf, Dark or Light, can turn away from their Chosen.

Unbeknownst to the mortal realm, the battle between Light and Dark is being brought to their doorstep. The only one who can keep it at bay holds darkness in his heart like a lover, and the one who can sway that heart must decide if she can look beyond his black past, beyond his evil nature and see the man he is destined to be.

The question must be asked, does love really cover a multitude of sins? Can true love actually conquer all or will his darkness consume those around him until all that stands is an assassin with the blood of the mortal realm on his hands?
Once again Quinn Loftis rocks! For the being the first book of the series... it have so many action and drama that I was thrilled the whole book. I really really love it. If I fell in love with Quinn at her Grey Wolves series, I will totally love her x2 now.

Some things looks the same as the Grey Wolves series, but you can't compare them. The male are every possessive, loving and all with their Chosen, which are like their mates. They need each other touch and can read their minds, but thats all. The plot and characters are different. The main male character in this book, at least in the beginning, is a bad one, but then love happens and TADA! He is good because of her. His name is Triktapic (or something like that), but everyone called him Trik. He is a bad ass and hot assassin of the dark elves, but that will change later on. She is Cassandra, Cassie between friends. Sweet, loving and compassionate Cassie brings the light to Trik. But, will he accept it?

As I said, I love the book. I cannot wait for the next one. Having high hopes and I know that Quinn will nit let me down. Totally recommending this book to anyone who loves romance and elves.

NOSOUL
Even Ana's own mother thinks she's a nosoul, an omen of worse things to come, and has kept her away from society. When dragons and sylph attack the city, is Ana to blame?
